FAH or Why I Love Food

As some of you may know I made the conscious decision to get back on the workout wagon after this post. And I'm still sticking to it. The thing it... it's hard! The first week was ok. I went to the gym 3 of the 4 days I planned on going. I think that's a good effort for someone who wasn't going to the gym or working out at all.

But getting fit isn't just about working out unfortunately, which means that I have to keep my diet in check too. That's where I don't do so good. If you were wondering what "FAH" stands for, it means "Fatty At Heart". That's me. Inside there's a girl who wants to eat all the cupcakes and burgers and french fries she can possibly grab hold of. No fry left behind!!
(I googled images for this. Turns out there's an actual McDonald's commercial. I don't care. I'm taking credit for the FAH motto)

And yet, there's also a girl in there who wants to look like Beyonce.

Talk about inner turmoil.

The other day I was reading Shane's blog and she was talking about a meal service called eMeals and being able to join their blogger network and receive a free subscription. I jumped at it. I immediately signed up and a few hours later received and e-mail with a code for a free dinner plan subscription. eMeals has a variety of plans to follow ranging from low carb or clean eating to Paleo and gluten free. And it's not just for dinner. You can also receive meal plans for breakfast and lunch, or all three. I'm really excited to start making some of the meals because often dinner for me is a bowl of cereal or a mash-up of snacks as I'm always on the go because of work and school. When you get home at 10:00 or 11pm having a full meal isn't the greatest idea. Especially when you're going straight to bed.

I'm already using the app My Fitness Pal and I have my calorie intake set at 1540 per day. I'm already headed in the right direction. Hopefully I can hit 2000 calories per day as I increase my activity.

Did you know that if you...

I'll keep you posted on my progress!

If you're interested in giving eMeals a try, click the link on my sidebar, join the blogger network and have them use 'CrazyTragicAlmostMagic' in the “How did you hear about us” field.

I AM THE BIGGEST FAH EVER. Except I'm probably starting to become a literal fatty. Why don't I like kale more? Why?!?

I'm interested in how it goes. There are a couple of services over here where they provide you with pretty much all your meals and they're designed around a diet to suit you. Sometimes I get tempted to put myself on one of those plans but I like to think I can handle it on my own. If you diet well and work out a lot then you can treat yourself occasionally, don't forget that.

I stopped eating fast food and now I've mostly lost the taste for it. Sometimes you just have to get it all out of your system, so that you don't crave it.

I know it's kind of "trendy" now, but I've found that losing weight is so much easier now that I've eliminated grains. I struggled for years and years with my weight, but I'm losing steadily for the first time in...well...forever.

Both the wife and I live off of My Fitness Pal. That's a great app to keep you in check.

Also, I just can't commit myself to going to the gym. I just work out at home, or take walks around the neighborhood, bike ride, etc. Even a 30 minute walk around the block is more than "eh, I don't feel like going to the gym, I'll just stay in."

I shoot for 1,500-1,600 cal. per day, but it's just a guesstimate. It also depends on how active I am. When I work out, I'm insatiable!
