Dropkicking 2013

2013 has been treating me well so far. I'm in love with my new blog design, and apparently so are all of you (thank you!) I will be freezing for a reason in a few short weeks and I've been able to keep some money in my savings and checking accounts. Sadly, that's huge for me. But I'll take it. Every little bit helps right?

Most recently, I bought this:

4 days before St. Patrick's Day I will be seeing the
Dropkick Murphys.

I lost my shit when I saw the concert on the calendar. Even more so when it sunk it that it didn't say 'sold out'. I fell in love with the Dropkick Murphys almost 3 years ago and I haven't looked back. You see, I love bagpipes. There's just something magical about them. There's something sad about them, and yet at the same time happy and fun.

Sometimes I think I'm part Irish. The drinking, the music. But I'm not Catholic, so, there's that. It's fun music. It makes me want to tap my foot or clap my hands. I want to grab someone by the elbow and twirl around much like the scene in Titanic.

In case you don't know, I like to respond to all of your lovely comments by e-mail, which is easier since they're all sent to my phone. Well, lately I've been noticing that whenever I try to respond to someone's comment it tells me they're a no-reply blogger. The horror!! So now I'm trying to figure it out because it's pretty annoying. By using my gray matter and with the help of some other bloggers, it's been decided that the problem lies with Disqus.

I've been wanting to get rid of Disqus for quite some time now but there's a catch, a big one.

If I delete Disqus I'll lose all my comments.

Apparently there's no way to remove Disqus and retain my comments. So I ask you guys, what would you do? Delete and basically start over on the comment front or cringe and bear it?

In other news, I'm just a click away from reaching I've reached my giveaway goal! I'm pretty excited about this. I've been wanting to host a giveaway when I reached 100 followers. That day came Wednesday morning.

Now... with that being said I'm looking for a few giveaway co-hosts. Contact me by twittergoogle+ or e-mail if you're interested in giving something away. I'm hoping to have everything set and ready to go live next week.

Wait, I'm not sure the prob is just disqus. That no reply blogger stuff happens to me sometimes (I figured it what when people use a wp blog). I can only sometimes reply and see someone's email addy.

Congrats on the 100 followers! And the dropkick murphys. A friend of mine has gone to see them a bunch of times and apparently they are excellent.

Congratulations on reaching 100 followers Michael :D I love me some Irish music and it's kickass that you're going to get to see some. Hopefully there won't be too much Irish drinking and fighting going on.

As for the comments thing. I had Disqus for a while, and it was awful for me, so I got rid of it. It's sad to lose the comments, but I think it could be worth it.

I love Irish music, and no, you don't have to be Catholic to enjoy it. That actually helps you enjoy it more, because as a Catholic you're supposed to feel guilty for listening to Satan's music.

If Disqus is really bugging you (I'll admit, I'm not a fan of it. I have to sign in every single time I make a comment with it--annoying), losing a few comments shouldn't be anything to worry about. Look forward to the many comments you'll get in the future, not the ones you already got, I say.

First, thanks for introducing my culture deprived self to something new today. Second, tough call on the comments. I personally am not a fan of Disqus so would trash it in a heartbeat. But that's me!

I used to have Disqus and switched to Intense Debate, it's been worth the lost comments to make replying via email easier :) Congrats on the 100 followers and the concert tickets! Awesome!

So I really want to leave a comment but all your comments are showing up as you. Or else you got rid of Disqus and everybody else is gone. So I'm not sure. And I've been THINKING about getting Disqus for, like, a year, so now I'm nervous.

SO this is Nicki. You are probably going to know that because my picture will be here. You should also probably know that I think it is awesome you're going to see the Dropkick Murphys. You should also probably know that I think YOU are awesome. And you should probably also know that keeping monies in my savings and checking is a pretty damn new thing for me too, so hey, let's celebrate being big girls together.

There is nothing exciting to spice up this comment thus far, so I will say that I know many bagpipe players, one of whom is a good friend of mine. I have heard ACDC played on the bagpipes. I have heard Black Sabbath played on the bagpipes. And having spent many years of my life in such close proximity to many bagpipe players, I will also say with 100% confidence that there is NO more unpleasant sound to hear first thing in the morning than the sound of bagpipes tuning.
